Sonu Sood is an Indian actor, filmmaker, model, humanitarian, and philanthropist who mostly works in the Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil film industries.

For his role in the Telugu hit Arundhati, he earned the Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Award for Best Villain and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu in 2009.

For the Bollywood film Dabangg, he won the Apsara Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role and the IIFA Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role in 2010. 

He won the SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role (Telugu) for Julayi in 2012.

Yuva (2004), Athadu (2005), Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005), Ashoka (2006), Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Arundhati (2009), Dookudu (2011), Shootout at Wadala (2013), Happy New Year (2014), Kung Fu Yoga (2017), and Simmba (2018) are some of his most well-known films. 

He has worked in advertisements for Apollo Tyres and Airtel.

In July 2016, he founded Shakti Sagar Productions, a production company named after his father, Shakti Sagar Sood. 

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) awarded Sood the "SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award"  in September 2020 for his humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Punjab state election commission named him "the state icon of Punjab."

Sood established the "Sood Charity Foundation" to assist people of all backgrounds.

Sonu Sood's social work during the COVID-19:

Thousands of stranded Indian migrant workers were able to return home in May 2020, thanks to Sood's arrangements for buses, special trains, and chartered planes during the national lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

He organized a chartered jet to send around 1,500 Indian students trapped in Kyrgyzstan homes in July 2020, flying them from Bishkek to Varanasi.

His humanitarian efforts during the pandemic were praised, and he was recognized as a true hero (REAL LIFE HERO) in India. 

A video of a farmer's daughters ploughing a field as if they were bulls with a yoke on their shoulders went popular on social media on July 25, 2020. Sood swiftly dispatched a tractor to the household.

After contacting his team for assistance, he helped 101 medical students, mostly from Tamil Nadu, who were stranded in Moscow during the lockdown reach Chennai safely on a chartered aeroplane arranged by him. 

On his birthday, he established Pravasi Rojgar, a website, and an app that helps migrant workers locate suitable jobs in the midst of the pandemic.

Sood established the 'Ilaaj India' platform on February 19, 2021, to deliver healthcare services to the poor. 

He published I Am No Messiah, an autobiographical book about his road to becoming an actor and his humanitarian activities during the pandemic, in December 2020. 

Sonu Sood tested positive for Coronavirus disease on April 17, 2021. 

In his post "Covid - Positive. Mood and Spirit - Super Positive", he included a note for his supporters - "Hello everyone, I'm writing to let you know that I tested positive for COVID-19 this morning. As a precaution, I've already quarantined myself and am exercising extreme caution. But don't worry, I'll have plenty of time to solve your issues. Keep in mind that I am always available to you."

Sood supplied COVID-19 patients in India with much-needed oxygen plants and cylinders in 2021. 

Sood and Kumar Vishwas have backed comic poet and satirist Pankaj Prasun's Aao Gaon Bachayein ("Save the Villages") campaign. 

Sood's initiative, Sambhavam – IAS coaching scholarship, provides free tuition to UPSC exam contestants from financially poor backgrounds.
